Our daughter, Kaitlyn, is also adopted. We were at the hospital when she was born and that was the happiest day of our lives. Now we hope to add a baby boy to our family and we really excited to meet him.
We have a lot to offer as a family. There is a lot of love, fun, caring and activity in our home. Music abounds, laughter fills the air and walks and bike rides to the park happen almost daily. As adoptive parents we know the love we have in our hearts for our daughter could not be more if she were our biological child. It's so amazing how our lives are so intertwined. We know there is more love to give and our next child will be just as much a part of our lives and our hearts.

About Adoption
We are interested in open adoption through parental placement. This means that we hope to meet the birth parent(s) before the baby is born and make a plan for adoption. We hope to be present at the hospital when the baby is born. We are willing to travel to any state in the United States for this adoption.
Open adoption means that we would like to stay in contact with the birth parent(s), as long as the birth parent(s) want to also remain in contact. We would be happy to share pictures and give updates each year. We will tell our children that they are adopted. Kaitlyn already knows she is adopted and has a few relevant facts about what that means. As she grows in her understanding and curiosity we will continue to be open and honest about her adoption. We believe that eventually she will want to establish contact and possibly even meet her birth mother and father. And by staying in contact we will then be able to put them in contact. And this is how we plan to approach this next adoption, as long as the birth parent(s) are also interested in this. We will respect the decision of the birth parent(s) whatever they choose.
Shore Adoption with Hope in Virginia Beach, VA has completed our home study. And Gary Allison in Virginia Beach is our attorney who will assist with all the necessary legal documents. This type of private placement adoption is completely legal and counseling services with licensed social workers is provided at no charge to the birth parent(s).

About Us
We met in 1985 on a church outing and started dating. In 1988 we were married. At that time Kris was in the Navy and Penny was a college student. Our plan was to start a family a little later after we got ourselves more established. Then in 1992, the Navy took us to Japan where we lived for four years. Then we were transferred to Maryland and eventually to Virginia Beach, where Kris retired after 20 years in the Navy.
By then we had been married for over 10 years and even though we had tried to start a family, we had discovered that it wasn't going to happen for us naturally. So adoption became a real blessing to us.
In 2005 our daughter came to us through adoption and now we hope to add another child to complete our family!
We are protestant Christians, attending a non-denominational church with a large children's ministry. Penny is involved with a Mother's of Preschoolers Group and Kris attends the men's ministry events. We volunteer our time at the church with various activities: We work in the 1 year old Sunday School and helps clean up the cafe after service. We intend to raise our children with Biblical, Chirst-centered values. And we hope to instill these values in our children.
We will give our children every opportunity for a good education. We love to travel and Kaitlyn is already a world-traveler with her own passport & frequent flyer account!
Penny has traveled to Russia 8 times to work in orphanages and church ministries through an organization of which she is a board member based in Ohio called Russians Reaching Russians. Although I am not Russian, I have a heart for the Russian people.
We are both native Californian's but the Navy moved us and when we arrived in Virginia we loved it. So we have decided to stay, but we make frequent trips to CA to visit family and our families come to VA too.
Our dog is Bonnie. She is a very sweet, easy-going, fun-loving pet. She is a mix of Beagle and Sheba Innu. She has a great personality, loves kids and is extremely protective. No one gets close to any of us unless she's confident they are a friend. But once she knows you, watch out....she'll be at your feet wanting to be petted constantly!

- Love to play at the park with my daughter, we sing a lot and "play" instruments. Favorite foods are Mexican and Italian. Favorite colors are pink and blue. I work part-time as a Financial Advisor. I have a Master's Degree in Finance. I play the piano and sing. I love to take long walks and swim and garden. When the weather is nice I'm outside as much as possible with Kaitlyn at a swimming pool or riding bikes and playing with the neighbors on our cul-de-sac.

Kris loves to make Kaitlyn smile, laugh & giggle. He is really looking forward to having a son to play sports with and do father-son stuff. Favorite food is Italian & Mexican. Favorite sports is Raider's Football. He also enjoys playing golf and racquetball. His favorite color is blue and he loves to listen to jazz. He is a computer network engineer for a Pharmaceutical Company. He served in the Navy for 20 years, then attended Old Dominion University and received his bachelors in Business - Computer Networking. Kris recently made a balance beam for Kaitlyn as she is really into gymnastics. He loves to do special projects and fun things with Kaitlyn. He always stops at the mini mart on the way home to buy her a snack or favorite drink or gum. He's looking forward to having a son to teach him about wood-working and cars, computers and sports!
